During the "Great War" the London Brighton & South Coast Railway made a number of "Aeroplane Trucks" by converting bogie timber wagons into flat trucks. In 1923 they converted the underframe of the Bogie Refrigerated Van D28, by stripping off the body and putting on a flat deck. This was given Diagram 1685 and was withdrawn in 1929.
This project follows on from Steam and Things LBSCR Refrigerated Bogie Van Dia 28, in that there
is a commonality of parts. Further information is available on the
Refrigerated Van D28 page. Click this logo
. The D-1685 is
on 2 etched sheets in 7mm, and one sheet in 4mm. Same comments apply to this kit as to the D28 with
respect to castings, decals and extras.
